 History of the ChoirThe Cowbridge Male Voice Choir (Registered Charity No 514917) is based the historic market town of Cowbridge in the rural setting of the Vale of Glamorgan the southernmost area of Wales, just to the west of Cardiff, the Welsh capital.
In 1971 a group of local singing enthusiast met in the Eastgate Hotel in Cowbridge to discuss the possibility of forming a male voice choir. On 10th June With David Richards as their newly appointed Musical Director they performed their first concert in the Cowbridge Town Hall.
Over the years the Choir has always given high priority to active support of worthy causes through fundraising concerts in Britain and abroad.

 RepertoireThe choir aims to perpetuate the great Welsh tradition of male voice choral singing.
The repertoire is varied, ranging from classical Welsh choral pieces such as Gwahoddiad, Laudamus, Llef and Myfanwy, musicals such as Les Miserables, Phantom of the Opera and West Side Story and more modern songs such as Bohemian Rhapsody, California Dreaming and House of the Rising Sun.

 Shelley Thomas-Brown Musical DirectorEducated at Bridgend Girls Grammar School and Brynteg Comprehensive, Shelley Thomas-Brown graduated with honours in Music at University College of Wales, Aberystwyth, in 1980. She has been the Musical Director of the choir since 1985. She works full time as a member of the Music Department at Maesteg Comprehensive School near Bridgend. |

 Sandra Williams AccompanistEducated at Cowbridge High School for Girls, Sandra Williams gained a Bachelor of Education degree in Music and Education at Trinity College, Carmarthen. She has been associated with the Choir since October 1971 and has been the Accompanist ever since. Sandra is currently teaching Welsh and Music throughout the school in St. Brides Major Church in Wales Primary School near Bridgend. |

 Iona Jones Honorary PresidentA graduate of the Guildhall School of Music and Goldsmiths College university of London, and also holds an LRAM diploma for the teaching of singing.
Iona is recognized as one of Wales leading sopranos having had over twenty years experience performing in concerts and oratorios at home and abroad with frequent television appearances on S4C. In August 2000 at the Llanelli National Eisteddfod she crowned her competitive career by winning the the prestigious David Ellis memorial prize the Blue Riband.
