Welsh Male Voice Choirs (Côrau Meibion Cymru)

Côr Godre’r Aran is based in the village of Llanuwchllyn (Church above the lake) at the western end of Llyn Tegid (Lake Bala) in the old county of Merioneth, North Wales. It is an area which has retained its firm Welsh identity in a modern and vibrant Wales. The Aran Mountains form a majestic backdrop to the scenic view looking west from the rural market town of Bala located at the eastern end of the lake. The area is steeped in history and has a long and proud poetic, literary, musical and cultural heritage. The choir membership represents a spectrum of rural occupations and is unique in that all members are natural Welsh speakers.

Formed in the village of Bynea under the baton of the late Denver Phillips B.A. in 1964 the Choir, under the direction of the present Music Director D. Eifion Thomas, has grown in stature and strength to become one of the leading male choirs in Britain.

The Tonna Male Voice Choir evolved from a weekly "sing a long" at the Railway Tavern in Aberdulais. From this group of men with a love of singing, in keeping with the Welsh tradition, it was not long before a committee was formed, and thus the foundation for the Tonna Male Voice Choir was laid. The choirs' first Chairman was Mr Harold Bradley with Mr Clive Evans as Secretary.

Born and Bred in Wales, Welcomed Everywhere
The choir was founded in 1975 in Flintshire on the Dee estuary. The boys are dedicated to their singing and passing on that enjoyment to it’s audiences. Flint Male Voice Choir is a registered charity No. 510346.

The Cowbridge Male Voice Choir is based the historic market town of Cowbridge in the rural setting of the Vale of Glamorgan, just to the west of Cardiff, the Welsh capital.
Over the years the Choir has always given high priority to active support of worthy causes through fundraising concerts in Britain and abroad.
